About
The UK's family entitlements system is genuinely complicated. Dozens of schemes, each with their own eligibility rules, income thresholds, deadlines and application processes — and almost no single place that brings them together clearly. We built FamilyEntitled to fix that.
UK families collectively miss out on billions of pounds in government entitlements every year. Not because they're not entitled to them — but because the system is fragmented, confusing, and poorly signposted. The 30 hours free childcare expansion. The pension contribution trick that restores eligibility for families near £100,000. The fact that Free School Meals unlock holiday clubs and uniform grants most parents have never heard of. The Child Benefit rules that mean you should claim even when your income means you'll pay it all back.
None of this is secret information. It's all published government policy. It's just buried, jargon-heavy, and spread across dozens of GOV.UK pages that assume you already know what to look for.
Most families who use this tool find at least one entitlement they weren't aware of. Many find several. That's not because they weren't trying — it's because the system makes it genuinely hard to know what you're owed.
FamilyEntitled is a free tool that asks you a few straightforward questions about your family — children's ages, income, working situation, current benefits — and tells you every government entitlement available to you, what each one is worth in pounds, and exactly how to claim it.
We cover everything from the 30 hours free childcare for working parents to Child Benefit, Tax-Free Childcare, Free School Meals, the HAF holiday programme, uniform grants and Healthy Start vouchers. We also flag the less obvious things: the income taper that reduces Child Benefit between £60,000 and £80,000, and the pension contribution strategy that can restore thousands in childcare entitlements for families near the £100,000 threshold.
Results link directly to GOV.UK for every application. We don't take you through the application ourselves — we just make sure you know what to apply for and where to go.
The tool will always be free to use. We cover our costs through display advertising — you never pay, and we never lock results behind a signup or paywall.
Everything you enter is processed in your browser and immediately discarded. We have no server, no database, no account system. When you close the tab, it's gone. We've built it this way deliberately.
We update our calculations whenever government rates or eligibility rules change. All figures are verified against published HMRC and DfE guidance. We always tell you when our information was last updated.
FamilyEntitled is an independent website. We're not affiliated with or endorsed by the UK government. Results are estimates — your exact entitlement depends on your specific circumstances, and we always send you to GOV.UK to verify and apply.
We built this primarily for working parents in England — the people most affected by the childcare expansion, the income thresholds, and the maze of overlapping schemes. But the tool covers the full age range from 9 months to 20 years, and is relevant to single parents, couples, families on Universal Credit, and higher earners near the entitlement thresholds alike.
If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, some entitlements will differ — particularly around free childcare hours and Free School Meals. We note where England-only rules apply, but some of our calculations may not reflect your local provision accurately.
Found an error? Think we've missed something? Want to give feedback on the tool? We genuinely want to hear from you — accuracy matters to us and user feedback is the fastest way we find things to improve.
